I was born in France and lived there until I was seven. During part of that time my mother lost all her money in the great depression in 1932 and we became penniless. I lived with Catholic nuns for three years, which profoundly influenced me.
We moved to Jersey, then to England where I received my education in several different schools. I ended up at University with a First class degree in languages.
I had a chequered work career until I started work at NATO in Paris and stayed there for 30 years, moving to Brussels in 1967. I retired in 1989 and received the MBE for my services to NATO. On retirement I took up painting, singing and writing.
These are the bare bones of my life. My purpose is to show how I developed from a pathologically shy child and adult into a woman who is secure in herself and her own mind, what I would call self realised. I hope that my story will be of interest and that it may inspire others. Everything is possible!
It has been a pleasure to meet you Daphne and I shall look forward to reading your memoir very much.
